SOLEMN RITES FOR JAMES BOONE AT HOWARDSTOWN - SON IS CELEBRANT OF REQUIEM MASS - James F. Boone, 75, retired farmer of the Howardstown community, died last Thursday at 12:42 a.m. at Flaget Memorial Hospital here of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was born February 9, 1880 and lived in the Howardstown community all his life. He was the son of John Walter and Josephine Bowling Boone. His wife, Susie Mattingly Boone, preceded him in death eight years ago. (Leaves Children) Surviving are 11 sons and daughters, Rev. Lawrence Boone, assistant pastor of St. Elizabeth's Church, Louisville; Mrs. George Wine, Louisville; Louis Boone, Prophetstown, IL.; Mrs. Leander Lagerstrom, Fort Belvoir, Va.; James Boone, Jr., Lebanon; Mrs. Harry Hicks and Mrs. Herbert Boone, New Haven; John, Delime, Adolph and Anthony Boone, Howardstown; two brothers, Charlie and Emanuel Boone, Howardstown; four sisters, Mrs. Mae Thompson, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Lawrence Willett, Buechel; Mrs. Joe Johnson, and Mrs. Nick Whelan, Howardstown. A brother, Will Boone, St. Louis, Mo., died nine months ago. The body was at the Greenwell Funeral Home at New Haven until Saturday morning when last rites were conducted with Solemn Requiem Mass in St. Ann's Church, Howardstown, at 10 a.m. Rev. Lawrence Boone was celebrant of the Mass; Rev. Hubert Hagan, sub-deacon, and Rev. George Greenwell, deacon. Acolytes were three grandsons, Mike, Tony Joe and Earl Boone. (Several Priests Present) Other priests in the sanctuary for the Mass were Rt. Rev. Msgr. James H. Willett, Bardstown; Rt. Rev. Msgr John Dudine, Louisville; Rev. Fred F. Gettlefinger, Rev. Lawrence Hardesty, New Haven; Rev. Barth J. Beruatto, Buechel; Rev. Bernard Knoer, St. Charles; Rev. James Thompson, Rev. Charles Schoenbachler, St. Mary; Rev. Joseph Zaner and Rev. William Zaner, Louisville; Rev. John Bancroft, New Hope; Rev. J. T. Blanford, Springfield; Rev. William Pank, Howardstown; and Rev. Robert Dollinger, Bardstown. Interment was in St. Ann's Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews, Leon, Garland and Billy Joe Boone; C. H. Willett, Joe Whelan and Tommy Johnson.

KENTUCKY STANDARD OBITUARY - 12/05/1946:

Mrs. James F. Boone, age 61 years, died Friday, November 29, at 3:15 a.m. at her home at Howardstown, following a heart attack two days before her death. She had been in quite ill health since March of this year. Daughter of Mary Theresa Delime and Robert Lee Mattingly, she was born in Marion County, December 11, 1884, and lived there until her father's death in 1893. From there she moved to New Haven with her step-mother, Mrs. Mary Rose Howard, remaining there until her step-mother's marriage, then moving to Howardstown, where she lived until her death. She was united in marriage to James F. Boone on April 21, 1903. To this union were born fourteen children, of which three died in infancy. Surviving, besides her husband, are Rev. Lawrence Boone, St. Elizabeth's Parish, and Mrs. William (Catherine) Cornwell, Louisville; Mrs. L. A. (Theresa) Lagerstrom, Ft. Knox; Jimmy and Louis Boone, both of Prophetstown, IL.; Delime Boone and Mrs. Herbert (Agnes) Boone, New Haven; John and Anthony Boone, both of Howardstown; and Mrs. Harry (Margaret Mary) Hicks and Adolph Boone, at home; 21 grandchildren; one half-brother, Bernard Mattingly, New Haven; and her step-mother, Mrs. Mary Rose Howard, also of New Haven. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Saint Ann's Church in Howardstown. The solemn requiem High Mass was offered by her son, Rev. Lawrence Boone. Rev. Hubert Hagan, St. Thomas, was deacon and Rev. Joseph Zahner, Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Louisville, sub-deacon. The sermon was delivered by Rev. John Dudine, St. Elizabeth's Church, Louisville. Other attending priests were Rev. James Willett, Rev. Patrick Warren, Rev. Fred Gettelfinger, Rev. Vincent Manger, Rev. John Elder, Rev. Fred Dudine, Rev. Vincent Tompkins, Rev. James Dalton, Rev. John Bancroft, Rev. Alexander Kotheimer, Rev. Wm. J. Mulcahy, Rev. John Miles, Rev. Robert Brown, Rev. George Greenwell, Rev. Stanley Schmidt, Rev. Leo Sheeran, Rev. Henry Stuecker, Rev. Michael Lally, and Rev. Bernard Knoer. Those attending from out of town were a niece, Miss Josephine Boone, son, St. Louis Mo.; Mr. Jimmy Boone, Prophetstown, IL; Mr. Wm. Cornwell, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Donahue and Mrs. Raffo Pottinger, all of Louisville; Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Lagerstrom, Ft. Knox; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Willett and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Boone, Buechel; Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Bland and family, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Spalding and family; Mr. and Mrs. George T. Thomas and Mrs. V. R. Tatum, Lebanon; and Mrs. Leo Lamkin, Raywick. Interment was in Saint Ann's Cemetery, Howardstown.
