RETIRED CATHOLIC PRIEST, REV. LAWRENCE BOONE DIES - The Rev. Charles Lawrence Boone, 59, Howardstown native, died at 9 a.m. Thursday, October 11, at Kentucky Baptist Hospital in Louisville after a long illness. He was a former pastor of Holy Trinity Church at Fredericktown, but had lived with his sisters at New Haven since he became ill three years ago. In his earlier priestly years, Father Boone served in Louisville parishes and at Brandenburg and Payneville. Son of the late James F. and Susie Mattingly Boone, he was ordained to the priesthood in 1942. Father Boone is survived by six brothers, Adolph, John, Delime and Anthony Boone, all of Howardstown; Louis Boone, Prophetstown, Illinois; and Jimmy Boone, of Louisville; three sisters, Mrs. Theresa Lagerstrom, Louisville; Mrs. Harry (Margaret Mary) Hicks, and Mrs. Herbert (Agnes) Boone, both of New Haven. A con-celebrated Requiem Mass was offered at 10 a.m. Monday, October 15, at Holy Trinity Church, Fredericktown, with Archbishop Thomas J. McDonough, chief celebrant. Con-celebrants were Bishop Charles G. Maloney and classmates of the deceased, Rev. George Greenwell, who delivered the homily; Rev. Alex Kotheimer, Rev. Robert Brown and the Rev. Hubert Hagan. Interment was in St. Ann Cemetery at Howardstown. Pallbearers were nephews, Sammy, Kenny, Bobby, Gary, Carroll and Paul Boone, and James Hicks. The body was at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home, New Haven, until 1 p.m. Sunday, when it was taken to Holy Trinity Church. A prayer service was held at the funeral home Friday evening, and the rosary was recited at the church Sunday evening at seven o'clock.
