Lived in KY until 1839 when he moved to Johnson Co., MO. Moved to St. Claire Co., MO in 1866. Lewis Ogden Stiles wrote,” Demas, in 1839, sold his possessions and moved to Johnson Co., MO, having bought a two hundred acre farm there at $1.25 an acre. This land is located seven miles from the present site of the town of Windsor, MO, where at the time not a single house had been built.

His first wife died in MO, leaving him with 6 children. He remarried, had 8 more children, then moved to a 240 acre farm of rich bottom land in St. Claire Co., MO.58

By 1846, Demas had remarried and after the Civil War sold his farm and moved to St. Clair County. Demas Stiles was buried in Doyal Cemetery, near the town of Vista, St. Clair County.

Following their marriage, Demas and Margaret Stiles lived in Hardin County until at least 1830, then in LaRue County, Kentucky and in 1839 came to Missouri via a covered wagon and settled in Johnson County, Missouri where they began farming 200 acres just north of the town of Windsor.
