William S. Edelen, a Bardstown native, died Sunday, December 22, in Jacksonville Florida after a brief illness. He was the youngest of nine children of the late R.H. and Leona Edelen, of Bardstown, and had lived in Jacksonville for 21 years. Survivors including his wife Sarah; four daughters, Jean M. Edelen, Julie MacLeod, Jacklyn Carlson and Jennifer Edelen; three sons, William S. Jr., Robert and Barrie Edelen, five sisters; two brothers; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is survived buy an aunt Mrs. J. Spalding of Bardstown. The funeral mass was celebrated on December 24 at Christ the King Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Jacksonville. Donations maybe you made to Methodist Hospice. Arrangements were by Hardage-Giddens Guardian Chapel, 517 Park Street, Jacksonville. Two sisters, Sr. Robert Leona Eidelen of Loretto Motherhouse and Mrs. Dot Herrman of Louisville, and cousins J. Ekro Rapier Jr. and William B. Edelen, both of Jacksonville, attended the services.
