Word was received here Monday of the death of Willis Ballard, retired Nelson County farmer, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jodie Bowling, in Akron, Ohio. He died Monday at 7 a.m. of complications resulting from a foot infection.
Mr. Ballard and his wife sold their farm on the Bloomfield road near Bardstown about six weeks ago and went to live with their daughter.
Besides his daughter, he leaves one son, Vincent Ballard, also of Akron.
Funeral services and burial took place today in Akron. Mrs. Russell Biven and Mrs. Mary Joe Cross, of Bardstown, sisters of Mrs. Ballard, attended the funeral.

Funeral services for James Willis Ballard, 76, were held Thursday morning at nine o’clock at St. Mary’s Church, Akron, Ohio, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Mr. Ballard died of a heart attack at St. Thomas Hospital, Akron.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ophelia Ballard; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph C. Bowling, and one son, Vincent Bowling (sic-Ballard), of Everett, Ohio; one brother, Bernard Ballard, Louisville, two sisters, Mrs. Vincent Metcalf, New Haven, and Mrs. F. I. Wheeler, of Bardstown; 16 grandchildren.
