KENTUCKY STANDARD OBITUARY – 04/05/2010:
Charles Raphael Hall, 76, New Haven, died Sunday, April 4, 2010, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born September 12, 1933, in New Haven. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, an Army veteran of the Vietnam/Korean War and a graduate of St. Catherine High School. He worked as a supervisor for Barton Brands LTD with 40 years of service. He was a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus in the Bardstown Council and a member of American Legion. He played softball and umpired more than 2,500 ball games. He was an avid hunter who loved the outdoors, and was an altar boy, Eucharistic minister, lector and choir member at St. Catherine Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvah Gregory & Estella Lee Seward Hall; two brothers, Andrew Hall and Lawerence Hall; and five sisters, Pauline Clark, Joanne Hornback, Martha Hall, Regina Stewart and Betty Jane Cecil. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Charlotte Ann Greenwell Hall, New Haven; five daughters, Robin (John) Cusick, Karen (Bill) Newcomb, Lori Kelley, and Lucia (Tink) Guthrie, all of Bardstown, and Dolores (Houston) Hall, Lexington; 18 grandchildren; four brothers, Marvin Hall, David Hall and Larry Hall, all of New Haven, Lois Hall, Bardstown; two sisters, Theresa Browning, Louisville, and Joyce Greenwell, Bardstown; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine Catholic Church, New Haven, with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. Wayne Jenkins, Tom Clark and Bill Hammer will officiate. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday with a 6 p.m. prayer service and 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at William R. Rust Funeral Home, New Haven. In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the UofK Alzheimer’s Research Center for the Aging (Sanders Brown Building), 800 S. Limestone, Lexington, KY 40536 or St. Catherine School, New Haven. Envelopes will be at the funeral home. William R. Rust Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
