Mary Callista Mudd, 82, dearly beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008. She was born July 15, 1926, in Howardstown to the late Emmett and Loddie Boone. She graduated from Mercy Academy in Louisville. She, with her husband, Lawrence, founded Mudd's Furniture and Auction House in 1951. She attended Good Shepherd Church and was president of Flame Fellowship. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence D. Mudd, on Nov. 2, 1989; two children, Alene and Ray; and infant children.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David G. and Deborah Mudd of Owensboro; four grandchildren, Bridget, April, Danielle and David Lawrence; two great-grandchildren; a brother, James Robert Boone and wife Rita of Madison, Ind.; and three sisters, Theresa Ann Hagan of New Haven, Mary Charlotte Blair of Austin, Texas, and Mary Amanda Battcher and husband Howard of Louisville.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Good Shepherd Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to God's Outreach, 1209 Moseley St., Owensboro, KY 42303.
