She was a beloved homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. LaVerne was also an avid card player and a member of The Women of the Moose Lodge #5.
LaVerne is preceded in death by her parents: James and Elanor Thompson.
She is survived by her loving husband of sisxty years: Jack Black, their children: Karen Denkhoff (Rick), Rob Black (Debbie) and Brenda Shader (Brian), grandchildren: Stephanie (Matt), Ashley, Nick (Katie), Brad, Emily, Laura, Michael and a great grandchild Jack. She is also survived by countless friends and family.
A funeral service to celebrate LaVern's life will be conducted at noon on Monday, September 7, 2015 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. Entombment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
