William Raffo Pottinger was born in Nelson Co., KY and went to boarding school in Cleveland. He was a farmer and boarding house owner. He married Clara Howard on Jan 15 1919,in Howardstown, Nelson Co., KY. They lived in Howardstown, Hodgenville and Louisville. During Prohibation, he also ran a very profitable bootleg business. In 1942 they bought a big house at 1362 13th street in Louisville and ran it as a boarding house for 18 yrs.

D/o Willard T. Howard and Mary Rose Hutchins. Clara married Raffo Pottinger after WW1 and the flu epidemic, on Jan 15 1919, in Howardstown. They bought a 1000 acres farm. Raffo took her to live somewhere out near the Lincoln farm, where there was nothing around. She was glad to leave that place after several years. In 1942 they bought a big house at 1362 13th street in Louisville and ran it as a boarding house for 18 yrs.
