New Paltz: April 27, 1949 - Funeral serices were held Monday for Mrs. Alexander Stimatz, 70, who died at her home on North Ohioville Road. There was a Mass of Requiem at 10 o’clock in St. Joseph’s Church, and burial followed in Lloyd Cemetery. She came to the U.S. many yaers ago from Yugoslavia. Surviving are a son, Anthony Stimatz of Queens; four duaghters, Mrs. William West of Woodstock, Mrs. Harry Lombard of Brooklyn, Mrs. Michael Yess of New Paltz, and Mrs. Slava Magu of Yugoslavia; also several grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. agnes Cural of Cleveland, OH.

All children living in 1949 when she died.

WWII draft card dated 1942 states that his hands were crippled with arthritis and that he could no longer write. He was also listed as bedridden.

He was 5’7”, 120 lbs., brown eyes, brown/bald hair, and had a light complesion.

1915 NY Census lists the family as Alex (34), Lena (35), Lena (10), Slava (8), Mary (7) and Andrew (6). All children born in US. Alex and Lena born in Germany. His occupation was a baker.
