Larue County Herald, Thursday, Mar 26, 1953:

Mrs. Edmonia Cessna Howard, age 76 years, widow of Joseph Howard, died at Our Lady of Angels Nursing Home in Louisville, where she had been a patient for two weeks. She had been ill since suffering a paralytic stroke seven years ago. She suffered another stroke early Monday morning and the family was called to her bedside.

The remains were brought to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry C. Boles, and Mr. Boles here. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church of which she was a member, conducted by the pastor, Dr. W. W. Stevens. Interment was in Red Hill Cemetery.

Before her marriage Mrs. Howard taught school for a number of years.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Boles of this city, and Mrs. H. B. Kirkpatrick, of Fort Knox; three sons, J. Cessna Howard and Attorney Shelby M. Howard of this city, and F. Leland Howard, assistant director of the U. S. Mint, Washington, D. C.; seven grandchildren, Mrs. F. L. Cecil, of Bardstown; Misses Alice Muir, Beverly and Malinda Howard, all of Hodgenville, and Ann, Nancy and Betsey Howard, of Arlington Virginia. and two great grandsons, brad and Tommy Cecil of Bardstown.
