Mystery Surrounds Shooting of Well Known Young People
At Age 28 he was charged with mysterious shooting of Samuel Crume’s wife, (Curran, 28) in her room, the night of March 3. Her husband was away at work. Five shots were fired. Mrs. Curran (Seeger) Crume called a doctor, while Stiles fell wounded into a pool room across the street. She was struck once in the back, the bullet lodging in her lung, while he was struck 3 times, in the left arm and through his chest and lung. He was the proprietor of the Old Kentucky Home Sweet Shop. Neither would elaborate on exactly what happened, though both reportedly said that the other shot them.
