Misc. Notes
The daughter of the late Agnes Stocker Rapier and Ekro Rapier, she was preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters, several in childhood and four - Suzanne Rapier, Nancy Rapier Cirillo, Ekro Rapier and Louis Rapier in adulthood.

She is survived by her five loving nieces and nephews - Nancy Ruggiero, Francesca Smith, Eleanor (Marie) Cirillo, David Rapier and Mark Rapier, as well as a dear cousin Robert Edelen and his wife, Sousi. Her Louisville family who cared for her deeply are Bill and Mary Jeanne Hardt, Kathy Gapsis, and Tom and Martha Newcomb, along with the St. Xavier Community.

Flowing from her formation in the Maple Mount, Kentucky Ursuline Order (1939 - 1971), she esteemed all of her students, but of special significance were her charges from St. Brigid's in Vine Grove, Kentucky, especially her attorney, Donald Skeeters. Many of her scholars from St. Xavier High School (1971 - 1997) also remember Ms. Rapier's intelligence, rigor, wit and compassion.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Nazareth Home Chapel, 2000 Newburg Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40205, with private burial in her hometown of New Haven, Kentucky.

In lieu of Flowers, please send any remembrances in her name to the Student Aid Fund of St. Xavier High School, 1609 Poplar Level Road, 40217, or to the Nazareth Home, to whose caregivers and physicians, especially Jane Cornett, M.D., we offer warmest thanks.

Chaucer's comment on his Cleric in The Canterbury Tales perhaps best presages Irene Rapier's life and ambitions: "Gladly would (s)he learn, and gladly teach."
