Misc. Notes
Donald West of Woodstock, NY passed away on January 29, 2022 with his wife, Winifred, by his side, at the age 91. Donald was a loving husband and father.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Donald moved to New Paltz and then settled in Woodstock, NY as a young child. He had loving parents, Helen and William, a sister, Patricia and has a surviving brother William, also residing in Woodstock. He attended Kingston High School and graduated from Long Island Agricultural and Technical Institute in Farmingdale, NY. After college Donald went to work with his father and brother at their construction company which became known as William E. West Incorporated. In the early years they were involved with public works projects. The company switched focus in the 1960s when they began developing and building homes in the Woodstock area. Donald greatly appreciated the Woodstock mountainside views and cherished his many hikes on Overlook Mountain.

He loved to spend his free time with his family and friends. He was an avid baseball player, football player and skier in his younger years. He enjoyed golf and played tennis with his wife and friends in his later years. A diehard NY Giants and Yankees fan, he never missed a game and always loved a good joke and laugh with family and friends.

Donald is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Winfred, his daughter Alexandra West of Pine Bush, NY and daughter Wendy West and son-in-law Daniel Herc of Yorba Linda, CA along with 4 grandchildren Logan Sperano, Maxwell Herc, Adia Sperano and Halina Herc, who were the lights of his life.

Donald will be laid to rest in the Woodstock Cemetery. A Celebration of His Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Woodstock Fire Co. #5 - Emergency Rescue Squad at PO Box 222, Woodstock, NY 12498
