Child, 6, Dies From Drinking Lye In May
Regina Rapier, 6-year-old daughter of J. Ekro Rapier, vice president of the Bank of New Haven, died this morning from the effects of inward burns, from drinking lye.
Last May she climbed to the top of their kitchen range, and took several swallows of lye from a (Coke) bottle. Since that time, she has undergone a gradual starvation. The food canal, leading Into the stomach, was so badly burned that It would not permit food to
pass through it.
