Misc. Notes
Natalie Muir Brown, Director Emeritus of Wilson & Muir Bank, died Sunday March 13, 2011 at home in Bardstown, KY.

A native of Bloomfield, she married Joe Mason Brown, also of Bloomfield, on March 22, 1940. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in 2007 shortly before his death. After graduating from Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV, she began her banking career at the family banking house of Muir, Wilson and Muir in Bloomfield. Her first job with the bank was as a courier at age 14, making bank deliveries to nearby Fairfield, KY. (She drove at an early age because her long legs could reach the gas pedal). She later served as an officer and Director of the Board at Muir, Wilson and Muir and also at Wilson and Muir Bank & Trust Company when the two banks merged.

In 2005, she retired as director of the board of Wilson & Muir marking her 69th year in Kentucky banking. Her long career spanned many changes in the industry but personal service to her customers remained her trademark.

She was a lifelong member of Big Spring Presbyterian Church, an avid animal lover and loyal supporter of the Humane Society of Nelson County. She was an accomplished horseback rider and bred thoroughbred race horses. Known throughout the years for her stately beauty and impeccable taste for fashion, Natalie was also a well-respected businesswoman, humble in her many accomplishments. Because of her warm personality and generous heart, her life was blessed with countless friends from all walks of life.

She was the daughter of Nat J. and Mary Taylor Muir, sister of Mary Ellen Muir Talbott and Nat J. "Sonny" Muir Jr., who all pre-deceased her.

Along with her many friends and loving cousins, Natalie was the beloved aunt of nine nieces and nephews, John Talbott (Candy), of Springfield, OH, Natalie Talbott Blaney (John), of New York, NY, Mary W. Talbott Campbell (Biff), of Lexington, KY, Sheridan Talbott (Karen), of Paducah, KY, Nancy Talbott, of Bardstown, Julie Talbott Katz (Michael), of Bronxville, NY and Susan Muir, Marylou Muir Crume (Jackie) and Natalie Muir Cole (Dan), all of Bardstown; as well as her treasured great/great-great nieces and nephews and her devoted friend and caregiver, Josephine Jones of Bloomfield.

Her memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Bardstown with Bro. John Sanderson officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield. Friends may kindly call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield, who is in care of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may go to First Presbyterian Church of Bardstown, Big Spring Bloomfield Presbyterian Church, Humane Society of Nelson County or Hospice of Nelson County.
