James William Bondurant age 92, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Brandenburg, died Friday, July 29, 1994 at his residence.
Mr. Bondurant and his late wife owned and operated Bondurant's Store on Broadway in Brandenburg from 1950 until their retirement in 1970. They moved to Elizabethtown in 1974 after their home was destroyed in the 1974 tornado.
Mr. Bondurant was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brandenburg, and was a deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zula Powell Bondurant, May 25, 1990.
Beloved father of Minnie Alice Scott, Elizabethtown, Kentucky; Peggy Penas, Lincroft, New Jersey; Mary Jones, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; Eleanor Newman, Lexington, Kentucky; Judge James E. Bondurant, Hodgenville, Kentucky, and Joe Bondurant, Lexington, Kentucky. Brother of Martha Lyon, Louisville, Kentucky; Mildred Gentry, Bardstown, Kentucky; Richard B. and Lewis G. Boudurant both of Louisville, Kentucky. Loving grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Chapel of Jenkins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Billy Marcum officiating. Interment was in Cap Anderson Cemetery.
Pallbearers were the following grandsons, John Scott, James Bourbon Bondurant, Frank Penas, Robert B. Jones, William J. Bondurant, Richard E. Bondurant and David Newman.
