Mary Louise Hicks, age 94 of Holy Cross, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born January 5, 1924 in Marion County. She was a homemaker and member of Holy Cross Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. “Junior” Hicks, Jr.; her father, Thomas Clell Jackson; her mother the former Mary Crozier Cecil and her step-father, Frank Elmore; two sisters, Gondola Miles and Theresa Raley; six brothers, Raffo Jackson, Ernest Jackson, J. E. Jackson, William Hal Jackson, Sr., Donald Elmore and Lawrence Elmore.

Survivors include three daughters, Janice Unseld of Bardstown, Tammy Mattingly (Jimmy) and Brenda Hicks all of Holy Cross; five sons, Ralph Hicks of Bardstown, Glen Hicks (Joann), Ronnie Hicks (Pat) and Keith Hicks all of Holy Cross and Dennis Hicks of Shepherdsville; 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Fogle of Bardstown; one brother, Estel Elmore of Louisville.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 59 New Haven Road, Loretto. Rev. Bryan T. Lamberson will preside. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 PM Monday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 PM by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Scott Hicks, Mike Unseld, Jeff Unseld, Neal Hicks, Brandon Hicks and Logan Mattingly; Honorary Pallbearers are granddaughters and step-grandchildren, Kim Adkins, Kayla Cambron, Calli Cox, Lindsey Mattingly, Kristen Ryan and Tayler Ryan.
