Adolph Hicks, 89, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at his residence. He was born Dec. 8, 1925, in Holy Cross and was an Army veteran and served in World War II and the South Pacific. He retired from Jim Beam's Distillery after 34 years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Hayden Hicks; a daughter, Sue Ann Harmon; his parents, Arthur and Minnie Hicks; two brothers, John Peake Hicks and Junior Hicks; and a sister, Joyce Maglior. Survivors include eight children, Dottie Mahaffey (Paul), of Tulsa, Okla., Janet Hicks and Larry Hicks (Ellen), both of Bardstown, Len Hicks and Mary Helen Bidwell, both of Louisville, Dan Hicks (Julie) and Michael Hicks (Tammy), both of Bardstown, and Jane Hicks, of Louisville; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna Louise Edelen, of Loretto, and Kathleen Canter, of Louisville. The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, May 15, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Bishop Bill Medley will officiate and the Rev. Bill Hammer will con-celebrate. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday, May 14, and 9-10:15 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Barlow Funeral Home.
