RETIRED PHONE OPERATOR AT NEW HAVEN DIES AT 68. - Mrs. Marvin Greenwell, 68, a former telephone operator at New Haven, died unexpectedly at 9:40 Thursday evening, January 18, at Flaget Hospital, where she was admitted on Tuesday, ill of pneumonia. Death was attributed to pneumonia and a heart attack. The former Agnita Mattingly, she served for 32 years as a switchboard operator for South Central Bell until installation of the dial telephone system in 1956. She is survived by her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Will Gant, and Mrs. Emmanuel Bryan, and two brothers, John and Lee Mattingly, all of New Haven. A con-celebrated Mass was offered at 10 a.m. Monday, January 22, at St. Catherine Church, New Haven. Con-celebrants were the pastor, the Rev. Paul Russell, the Rev. Irvin Mouser, and a former pastor, the Rev. Robert A. DeWitt, of Louisville. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews, Randy, Fred, Paul, Joe Larry and William Patrick Mattingly, and Charles Bryan. Greenwell Funeral Home, New Haven, was in charge of arrangements.

MARVIN LAWRENCE GREENWELL, 78, of New Haven died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998, at Northfield Nursing Center in Louisville. He was a native of Nelson County, a former employee of Owens-Illinois at Bardstown where he worked for 13 years before retiring in 1973; a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a prisoner of war from 1943 to 1945 and a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in New Haven. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnita Mattingly Greenwell; his parents, Louis and Catherine Gertrude Spain Greenwell; and a brother, William Greenwell. Survivors include a brother, Joseph Bert Greenwell of Louisville; two sisters, Lucille Smith of Bardstown and Mildred Culver of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, at 11 a.m. at St. Catherine Church in New Haven. Fr. Clarence Howard will officiate. Burial will be in St. Catherine Church Cemetery in New Haven. Visitation will be at Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven on Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at 3 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
