Greenwell, Richard Maurice "Dinks", 84, formerly of Shively, passed away Sunday March 22, 2015 at Flaget Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 20, 1930 in Louisville. He was a 1948 graduate of St. Xavier High School, served in the US Air Force from 1950 to 1954 and retired as a maintenance electrician supervisor after 35 years at General Electric. He was an avid gardener, youth baseball coach, wine maker and NY Yankee/UK fan. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather as well as member of Immaculate Conception parish.
He is preceded in death by his parents Marcellus and Lorene (Whitehead) Greenwell; his brothers Bill and Jim; his sisters Becky Probus, Martha Critchfield, Renee Thompson, and Helen Greenwell.
Richard is survived by his wife of 62 years, JoAnn Logsdon; his children Rick (Dawn), Vicki Smith (Bill), Steve (Marlene), Terry (Tonia), Gerry (Betsy), Stacy Porter and 26 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Ed and Harry; sisters Barbara Houston and Cathy Phillips.
A celebration of his life will be conducted on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 2:00 - 8:00 PM and Wednesday 8:30 - 9:30 AM at William R Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven KY. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Catherine Catholic Church on Wednesday March 25 at 10:00 AM and internment at St. Catherine Cemetery.
