Louis William "Bill" Dawson, 85, Louisville, died Monday, June 22, 2009 at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville. A native of New Haven, he was a U.S veteran having served in the 8th Air Force during World War II. He was a retired engineer from General Electric, and a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in electrical engineering. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Anne Johnson; three brothers, Frank Dawson, Bobby Dawson and the Rev Joseph I Dawson
Survivors include a daughter, Deidre Dawson, Okemos, Mich.; a granddaughter, four sisters, Miriam Hagan, New Haven, Aline Pytleski, Lawrenceburg, Ind., Camilla Dawson, Louisville, and Mary Ann Bowling, Atlanta; and a brother, Tommy Dawson, Baltimore.
He bequeathed his body to the U of L Medical School and a memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Road, Louisville. Visitation is 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville. Memorial contributions to Kentucky Right to Life, National Parkinson's Foundation or Catholic Charities in his memory. Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
