Robert LaRue "Bobby" Morrison, 88, of Hodgenville, died Sunday, June 8, 2014, at his residence.
He was the former scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 425, which spawned the beginning of the Santa Claus Program. For 48 years, boys and girls have been able to enjoy toys at Christmas because of Bobby Morrison's Santa Claus Program.
He was also a member and past president of the LaRue County Fair Board; LaRue County Volunteer Fire Department; a member of the American Legion Post 87 in Hodgenville; a Kentucky Colonel; a farmer; an Army veteran; and a member of Hodgenville Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John William and Bessie Woodall Morrison; a son, John Paul Morrison; a sister, Louise Rogers; and two brothers, Dalton Morrison and Boone Morrison.
He is survived by his wife, Ann P. "Snookie" Morrison; a daughter, Roberta Morrison of Hodgenville; a son, Tommy (Kim) Morrison of Hodgenville; a sister, Hilda Harned of Lexington; two grandchildren, Michael (Melanie) Morrison and Chelsie Morrison; two stepgrandchildren, Ethan Blunk and Breana Blunk; and a great-grandson, Tyler Morrison.
The funeral is at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Brother David Wortham officiating. Burial follows in Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville.
Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continues at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
