Misc. Notes
In the 1880 LaRue County Census for the Price district, John T. Howell was family 199. He was 36 years old, a Farmer, born in Kentucky. His wife, Elizabeth, was 28. Their children were: James R., 9; Mary C., 7; and Nannie A., age 5 years.
In the 1910 LaRue County Census John T. Howell was head of household 206 and 65 years old. His wife was Maggie, age 31. There were no children living with them. His nephews lived nearby, James and Ollie Howell.
The following is from the book, Lincoln's Birth County in the Civil War, by Ed Benningfield: JOHN HOWELL was listed as a Union soldier by the third district commissioners. They say he served in the sixth cavalry. He was in Company I, and enrolled on August 20, 1862. He mustered in at Louisville and was said to have deserted in Louisville on February 22, 1864. I have no particulars on his parentage, however, there was a John T. howell living on the Rolling Fork River, west of New Haven when the 1850 census was taken.
