BARDSTOWN KEENE, DOROTHY F., 78, passed away Friday, August 19, 2005, at her residence. Mrs. Keene was born July 5, 1927 in Evansville, IN. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mount St. Joseph on the Ohio, a Masters Degree in Education from Spalding University, and her Rank I from the University of Kentucky. She retired from teaching in the Bardstown Elementary School System after 20 years. She co-owned and operated the Kenmore Farms Bed and Breakfast for 12 years. Mrs. Keene was active in her community serving as President of the Stephen Foster Music Club and the Nelson County Homemakers. She was a member of the Bardstown Garden Club, the Bardstown Women's Club, and St. Joseph Parish. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren A. and Ora Stinson French; one brother Reverend Howard French; and two sisters, Ada Mae Straub and Hazel French. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bernie Keene of Bardstown; three sons, Bernie Keene, Jr. of Louisville, Howard Keene of Bardstown, and Twyman Keene of San Francisco, CA; three daughters, Theresa Campbell of St. Louis, MO, Jean Keene and Ann Smith, both of Louisville; four grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 22, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, officiating by Reverend Toan Do. Visitation: Sunday, August 21, 2005, from 4-8 p.m. at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home. Prayer Service: Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. conducted by Reverend Toan Do. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson County, St. Joseph School, or Bethlehem High School.
