A Bardstown resident, Mr. William Riley "Bill" Gentry Jr., age 85, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at his residence. He was born on August 27, 1928 in Brandenburg, he was a retired self employed attorney, he was a graduate of Randolph Macon High School, an Army Veteran, a member of the Bardstown Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, he was a member of the Bardstown Kiwanis Club. He was a 2 term State Senator, where he served Nelson, Washington, Marion, Bullitt and Spencer counties. Mr. Gentry later served as a member of the Ky. Public Service Commission. He loved playing the trumpet in numerous bands over the years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Judge William R and Mildred Bondurant Gentry Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Shannon Thomas Gentry, 1 daughter, Lynn (Tom) Hamilton of Bardstown, 2 sons, William R.(Karen) Gentry IV of Bardstown ,
Lewis (Ingrid) Gentry of Louisville, one sister, Alice Williams of Louisville. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A Memorial visitation will be Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 2:00-5:00pm at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
