MARY LOUISE BOWLING, age 88, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at St Joseph Home for the Aged, in Louisville, KY. She was born on April 28, 1924 in New Haven, KY to James Nicholas Bowling & Mary Irene Boone. Her life was dedicated to the care of the elderly. She cared for her father, Nick until his death in 1965. She soon joined the Little Sisters of the Poor and served in several homes in Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indianapolis & Pittsburgh, returning to Louisville when the St Joseph Home opened in 1991. At the St Joseph Home she oversaw the activities in their Craft Room and took great pride in the rose garden. When she retired in 2008, she enjoyed the Kentucky Derby, Bingo, day trips to the casinos and church picnics. She enjoyed watching all types of sports. Best of all, she loved her card playing group. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by all of her siblings: four brothers, Rev. George K. Bowling, Martin Bowling, William Paul Bowling, Rev. Robert A. Bowling; two sisters, Sr. Mary Janette, OSU; Marietta Blandford and one sister-in-law, Anna Rose Bowling. She is survived by two sisters-in-law Marguerite (Martin) Bowling and Rosanne (William Paul) Bowling. She is also survived by 20 nieces & nephews and numerous great nieces & nephews. Mary Louise loved the Little Sisters, their caring staff, their loyal volunteers and all the residents. She loved the Christian atmosphere and family environment the home provided. The Bowling family would like to express their appreciation to the Little Sisters for their loving care, given not only to Mary Louise, but to all who enter their home for truly "Love is Spoken Here". Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, February 9th at Little Sisters of the Poor, 15 Audubon Place, Louisville, KY. Visitation will be from 3-8 PM on Friday and from 9:00 AM Saturday, until time of service. Burial will be at St. Catherine Cemetery in New Haven, KY at approximately 1:00PM. Expressions of sympathy should be directed to Little Sisters of the Poor, 15 Audubon Plaza, Louisville, KY. 40217. Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto Ky is in charge of arrangements.
