Thomas and Celie farmed in kentucky, but sometime after their daughter Lela was born but before their son Harry was born, they moved to Illinois and farmed near Wyanet, Bureau County; but Thomas became homesick for Kentucky and they returned to Ginsing with a team of oxen and a covered wagon sometime after their son Herbert was born but before their daughter Nellie was born. 

In the Otter Creek district of the 1880 Larue County census, William Howell was family 48, living next door to his widowed mother. He was a Farmer, born in Kentucky. His wife, Ceily, was 21 and also born in Kentucky. Their children were: Emily, 2; and Walter, age 7/12 years.

After the death of Celia in 1907. He married Jeanie. In the 1910 Larue County Census Herbert Howell was head of household 227. He was 22 years old and living with his sister, Nellie, age 16; and brother, Earl, age 11 years.
Also in the 1910 Larue County census, William T. Howell was head of household 134. He was 53 years old and his wife, Jeanie, was 41. They lived alone.
