Henry L. Benningfield was a son of Daniel Benningfield (abt1791-aft1870) and Susannah Milby (b. between 1792-1798 in North Carolina) 

Henry married Eunice Bryant on 20 Mar 1837 in Green County, Kentucky. 

After Eunice died in 1857, Henry married again to Elizabeth Thompson, daughter of Edward Thompson and Mary Skaggs Thompson. Elizabeth died a year later on 25 Aug 1859 of child bed fever. She is buried in Abney Cemetery.

Henry married again to Narcissus Henderson on 1 Dec 1859 in Larue County, Kentucky. She was a daughter of Baylor Henderson (1804-1897) and Elizabeth Milby Henderson (abt1807-aft1881) They are buried in Benningfield Chapel Cemetery in Larue County. 


In the 1850 Larue County Census, Henry Benningfield was family 568. He was 35 years old, a Farmer born in Kentucky. His wife, Unicy, was 33. The children were: A., 16; J. A., 12; Danl., 10; Jane, 8; M. A., 6; Susan E., 4; S. J., 2; and M., age 7 months. Living in this home were: Nancy Rhoades, 18; and John Vance, age 30 years and listed as a Teacher.

In the 1860 Larue County Census, Henry Benningfield was family 652. He was 45 years old. His wife, Narcsa, was 20. The children in the home were: M. A., 16; D. J., 18; Susan, 14; Mariah, 11; J. C., 7; and Ed, age 1 year.

In the 1870 Larue County Census for the Magnolia District, Henry Benningfield was family 77. His wife's name was mispelled Marissa. She was 33 years old. The children at home were: John J. (C.?), 18; Marian L., 9; George T., 8; William A., 7; William R., 5; Richard, 4; and Fannie, age 2 years.

In the 1880 Larue County Census for the Magnolia district, Henry Benningfield was family 69. He was 65 years old, a Farmer, born in Kentucky. His father in Virginia and his mother in North Carolina. His wife, Narcissus, was 43. Their children were: M. L., 19; George T., 18; W. R., 15; R. B., 14; F. S., 12; H. G., 9 years.

Larue County Herald News item, Thursday, July 16, 1896:
Henry Benningfield of near Zero, Hart Co., died on the 12th. Burial on Monday at the family burial ground on the farm of M. A. Abney. Leaves children.

Eunice Bryant was a daughter of David Bryant and Elizabeth Puryear. David died 1824 Kentucky after returning from Missouri to look at land. Elizabeth Puryear Bryant died bet 1829-1832.
