Grace Hagan Keene, 89, Bardstown, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Windsor Gardens. She was born June 25, 1919, in New Haven. She attended Nazareth College and was formerly employed by Barton's Distillery during World War II. She married Tommy Keene Feb. 14, 1946, became a homemaker and raised her family. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Franklin Keene; and her parents: John Sidney and May Boone Hagan. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Franklin Keene, Jr. and James Paul Keene, both of Lexington, and John Sidney Keene, Bardstown; two daughters, Joan Marie Kelleher, Cambridge, Mass., and Katherine Hagan Keene, Heflin, Ala.; and a sister, Louise Hagan of Bardstown; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Mass of Christian burial was 11 a.m. Monday at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Celebrant: The Rev. Harry Hagan, O.S.B. will be celebrant with the Revs. Mark Keene and Bill Hammer concelebrating. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Joseph Church. Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of arrangements
