"GUS" RAPIER DIES, FUNERAL HERE TUESDAY
Augustine Zoeller Rapier, age 59, died at 1:00 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at Audubon Hospital, Louisville, where he had been under treatment since July 7 after being stricken seriously ill. His home was at 320 S. Sixth St., Bardstown. For the past 12 years he had been in ill health, overcoming cancer and suffering from crippling arthritis. Gus Rapier was the manager of E'town Ready Mix Concrete Co. for several years. ____ surviving son of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Rapier. Native of Bardstown, he was a graduate of St. Joseph Prep School and a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, the former Eleanor Taylor, of Fredericktown; three daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Beth) Ford, Louisville; Mrs. Paul (Mary K.) Turner, Princeton, Ind., and Ann Rapier, Bardstown; three sisters, Mrs. Henderson (Virginia) Hite, and Mrs. William H. (Catherine) Bobbitt, both of Bardstown, and Mrs. ___ (Madeline) ____. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at St. Joseph Church with the Rev. Linus Giesler, Nazareth, officiating, in absence of the pastor. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mickey Hite, B. L. Smith, Jr., Mark Rapier, Kenny Rapier, Tommy Rapier and William Earl Ritchie. A prayer service will be held Monday evening at 7:30 at the Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be to ____ or contributions to the Bethlehem High School building fund.
