From FindAGrave contributor #47030944:

The news of the death of J. L. Shipley last Wednesday night at his home near Crestwood, Oldham County, has greatly saddened his friends here.

Mr. Shipley came to this county six years ago from Bowling Green, where he owned 700 acres of land known as "Mount Ayre Farm." He moved to Oldham County two years ago when he purchased a farm.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Hamilton Shipley; three sons, Lucian of New York City, William and Aubrey Shipley, of Crestwood; and one daughter, Mrs. Charles Kelley of Louisville.

After brief services at the family home Thursday afternoon by the Rev. Tague, pastor of the Crestwood Methodist Church, the body was taken to Bowling Green, where funeral services were held Friday morning at the Methodist church. Burial was in the Bowling Green Cemetery.

The Shelby Sentinel, Shelbyville, Kentucky, Friday, 04 Nov 1927 edition.

Actual burial is in Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green. His death certificate says he is the son of Martin and S.E. Stiles Shipley.
