Mary Ann Jones, of Kingston Manor, passed away peacefully Friday, June 17, 2016, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, family and friends, after a very brief and sudden illness.

Born Dec. 2, 1940, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late John and Agnes Pilch Kochanski.

Mary Ann attended GAR High School, Wilkes-Barre, and was a member of Our Lady of Hope parish. Prior to starting her family, she worked as a seamstress in the textile industry.

Mom was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother "Nanny" to all of her family. She dedicated her life to raising and caring for her children, as well as her parents and husband during their illnesses. She was an avid crossword, word search, and Jumble puzzler. She enjoyed game nights playing board games, cards, bingo and was well known as the family "Baggo" champion. Nanny cherished spending as much time possible with her grandchildren shopping and going out to dinner and the movies. Mom will forever be the wind beneath our wings.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elmer, on Jan. 14, 2008; and her brothers, Paul and Andrew Kochanski.

Surviving are her daughter, Catherine Sisk and her fiancé, Joseph Peake, Sugarloaf; sons, Thomas Jones and his wife, Linda, Lansdale; Robert Jones, Nanticoke; David Jones and his wife, Kimberly, Bear Creek Township; and Bill Jones, Eagleville; grandchildren, Joseph Jones and his wife, Jennifer; Kristy Baker, Patrick Witherite and his husband, Kevin; Emily Sisk, Brian "Butchie" Sisk Jr., Eileen Jones, Hunter Jones, Alexa Jones, Josh and Megan Jones, Braden Jones, and Jonathan Jones; great-grandchildren, Trista and Ethan Jones; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Hope parish, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. John S. Terry, pastor, will be celebrant. Private interment will be in St. Mary's maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
