Leroy Johnson, age 76 of Hardinsburg, KY died Monday, July 25, 2016 at Norton Audubon Hospital. He was born in Big Springs, KY on July 22, 1940, the son of the late Glen and Lourie Carman Johnson. Leroy retired from Aleris and was a member of the United Steel Workers. He was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church, an avid U of K basketball fan, enjoyed hunting and talking on the telephone.
Leroy loved his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren and had a special name for each of them.
He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter Margie Sweeney, grandson Colin Whitfill, brother Howard Lee Johnson and sister Catherine Triplett.
Leroy is survived by his wife Mary Ann Wheatley Johnson of Hardinsburg, KY
1 son: Donald Johnson of Big Springs, KY
3 stepchildren: Ron "Catfish" Whitfill (Jamesetta) and Darrell Whitfill (Rita) of Hardinsburg, KY

Funeral services will be held at St. Romuald Catholic Church on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11 AM with Fr. Brian Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, 3:30 - 8 PM and Friday after 8:30 AM under the direction of Trent-Dowell Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions are requested in the form of Masses or St. Romuald Catholic church.
