William David "Bo" Beam, 60, of Bardstown, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Flaget Memorial Hospital. Mr. Beam was born May 12, 1949 in Lebanon and was raised in New Haven. He was a graduate of St. Catherine High School where he played four years of Varsity basketball and was the number two high scorer in the school's history. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam era. Mr. Beam was employed by Jim Beam Distillery for over 40 years. He was a former member of the Jaycees, a Little League coach, and an avid softball player and fisherman enjoying many bass fishing tournaments. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish and at his death gave the gift of life as an organ donor.

Preceded in death by: His parents: Fred and Frankie Beam; and 3 brothers: Walter Thomas Beam and twin brothers, Charles and Edward Beam. Survived By: His wife of 18 years: Anita Carol Beam of Bardstown; 1 son: William David Beam, Jr. of Elizabethtown; 1 stepson: Michael Cooke of Bardstown and 1 stepdaughter: Mona Caddell of Bardstown; 6 step grandchildren; 2 brothers: Freddy Beam of Bardstown and Donnie Beam of Louisville; and 2 sisters: Sarah Culver and Mary Jane Pendleton, both of New Haven. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with Celebrant Reverend Troy Overton and burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, June 29, 2009 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home. Prayer Service will be held Monday evening at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Hospice of Nelson County and The Nelson County Humane Society.
