James P. “Jim”, 88, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Baptist Health.
Born in New Haven, KY, he graduated from New Haven High School and attended Xavier University. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, a KY Colonel, and retired from Peterson GMC Kenworth.
He previously worked at Tri-City Oldsmobile, and was a founding member of St. Martha Catholic Church. He played baseball in the Bourbon Leagues, was a fixture at Bearno’s Pizza, and an Honorary Master Distiller at Limestone Branch Distillery.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Smallwood and Mary Burch Beam; and siblings, Fred, Burch, Elizabeth, Walter “Toddy”, Mike, Cora, Joann and Katie.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, May 4, 2015 at St. Pius X, 3521 Goldsmith Ln., with burial to follow in St. Catherine Cemetery in New Haven, KY.
