ZABEL, JOYCE ANN RAPIER, 80, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014. Joyce was a native of New Haven, a 1951 graduate of Mercy Academy and a member of St. Martha Catholic Church. Her parents, Francis J. and Margaret Beam Rapier, preceded her in death. Surviving are her husband, Paul A. Zabel; children, Donna Mullen (Brian), Robert Zabel (Michele), Julia Meece, Steven A. Zabel and Richard Zabel (Dana); seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; a brother, James R. Rapier (Darlene). The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Martha Church, 2825 Klondike Lane with burial following in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road, where a prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
