J. Raphael “Jack” Hughes, 86, of Vine Grove, KY passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at the University of Louisville Hospital.
Mr. Hughes was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church, Vine Grove, KY. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a farmer.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Hughes.
Survivors include:
His loving wife, Jane Hughes of Vine Grove, KY; one daughter, Diana Hughes Wooden of Franklin, KY; two sons, Luke Hughes & his wife, Vicky of Vine Grove, KY, Quentin Hughes & his wife, Cynthia of Woodburn, KY; a daughter in law, Donna Hughes of Vine Grove, KY; ten grandchildren, Jonathan Hughes, Jacob Hughes, Cody Hughes, Mathew Hughes, Ethan Hughes, Scott Wooden, Jarrod Wooden, Byron Hughes, Trent Hughes, Jack Reid; 3 great, Reagan Wooden, Asher Wooden, Adylyn Hughes; and a host of family & friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, September 18, 2020 and from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Hughes will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 19, 2020 at St. Brigid Catholic Church, Vine Grove, KY with Rev. Daniel Lincoln officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Brigid Cemetery.
ATV Collission Claims Life Of Vine Grove Man
A collision in Hardin County between a SUV and ATV claimed the life of a Vine Grove man Tuesday (9/15) afternoon. Kentucky State Police responded to a call near the 10,000 block of KY1600 just before 1 p.m. The preliminary investigation revealed 86 year-old Joseph Hughes of Vine Grove was attempting to cross the roadway operating an ATV when he entered the path of a 1995 Ford Explorer operated by 19 year-old Alyssa Hammock of Guston. Hughes was transported to University of Louisville Hospital with life threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Hammock was not injured. The affected portion of KY1600 was closed in order to allow troopers to investigate the collision. The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Vine Police Department, Vine Grove Fire Department and Hardin County EMS also assisted at the scene. The collision remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
