SPALDING, MARY ANN RIVES, 69, of Louisville, died peacefully on February 9, 2009 after bravely battling a long illness. Mary Ann was born to Shannon and Mary Rives on July 28, 1939 in Lexington, KY and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Mary Ann was a devoted mother and wife who lived every day to its fullest. She loved everything Irish. She was a long-time member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and an active real estate broker for the city of Louisville. She is survived by her loving husband, George D. Spalding Sr; her son, Dean Spalding and daughter-in-law, Tracy; granddaughter, Kaley; and grandson, Reece; her daughter, Mara and son-in-law, Chris Legere; grandsons, Sam and Will. She had three siblings, Robert C. Rives, of Louisville, James S. Rives, of Louisville and Susan R. Schwartz, of Overland Park, KS; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 7813 Shelbyville Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road. In lieu of Flowers, all donations can be made to the St Margaret Mary Catholic Community.
