Charles was the son of John Calvin and Elizabeth (Carter) Stiles. He married Susie C. Stiles on December 2, 1913 and is buried in Section G.
THE LEBANON ENTERPRISE, pages 1-2, Friday, June 21, 1940. RESIDENT OF WEST END DIES. C. G. Stiles, 65, Ill Two Years, Succumbs Unexpectedly At State Hospital.
Charles G. Stiles, 65, died last Friday morning at Central State Hospital in Lakeland, following an illness of nearly two years. For some time his condition had been serious and his family had been called for consent of a minor operation, but death from cerebral hemorrhage occurred before it was performed.
The deceased was born April 27, 1875, near Stiles, the son of John Stiles and Elizabeth Carter Stiles., both deceased members of pioneer families of Nelson and Marion Counties. On December 2, 1913 he was married to Mrs Susie Coakley Blakeman of Greensburg.
Mr. Stiles grew to manhood on his father's farm which he owned and operated after the latter's death. Later he purchased the Druien farm near Howardstown where he and his family lived for a number of years. About twelve years ago he bought the Sallie Ray farm near Raywick, moving his family there but continuing operation of the Howardstown farm.
During his early manhood he made man trips west returning with carloads of cattle and horses which he disposed of in this section. Always interested in trading in livestock, he was widely known in western and southwest sections. He was a skilled reconteur, his ready wit and jovial manner making him friends everywhere he traveled.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons and two daughters. Paul and Charles Stiles and Misses Margaret and Louise Stiles and one granddaughter, all of Marion County, one stepson, Edward Blakeman, and two step-grandsons of Frankfort.
Funeral services were conducted at the residence Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock b the Rev. Garnett Puckett, pastor of the Stewart's Creek Baptist Church and interment followed in Ryder Cemetery.
The pallbearers were six nephews, Herman Stiles and Brent Stiles of Louisville, Willette Stiles and David Stiles of Stiles, George Stiles, of Lexington and Pat Stiles of Howardstown.
