MAN INJURED IN CRASH SUCCUMBS AT HOSPITAL - V. I. BOONE DIES AT INFIRMARY AFTER COLLISION NEAR SHEPHERDSVILLE. - WIFE, DRIVING IS HURT - AUTOMOBILE AND TRUCK COME TOGETHER ON STATE HIGHWAY 61 - Victor Ivo Boone, Jr., 31 years old, 313 M. Street, died at 7:05 o'clock Saturday night in the operating room at St. Joseph's Infirmary of a crushed skull suffered in a head on collision between an automobile in which he was riding and a truck on State Highway 61, two miles south of Shepherdsville, Ky. His wife, Mrs. Christine Boone, 27, who was driving the car, was in the hospital with a deep scalp laceration and suffering from shock. Her condition was considered serious. Dr. Irvin Abell was called to the infirmary to treat the couple when they arrived there at 5:20 o'clock in the afternoon from Shepherdsville in an ambulance. Witnesses reported that Mrs. Boone had passed a truck and apparently lost control of the automobile as it crashed head on into a truck owned by John Lee, Shepherdsville, which was loaded with wood. The truck was driven by Mr. Lee's son, Walter Lee, 17, who was accompanied by his brother, Clifford Lee, and Buford Rice, all of Shepherdsville, none of whom was hurt. Persons in the neighborhood reported it was the fourth accident in a week on the highway. They blamed the loose gravel for the number of accidents, and pointed out that it had been in the same condition for seven years although they had made efforts to get the highway oiled or surfaced. Mr. Boone's father at New Hope, Ky., was notified of the accident. Besides his wife and his father, Mr. Boone is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary W. Boone; four brothers, Miles Boone, Cripps Boone, David Boone and Felix Boone, and seven sisters, Mrs. T. J. Sweat, Mrs. W. O. Sweat, Mrs. F. E. Hall, Miss Elizabeth Boone, Miss Jessie Boone, Miss Alberta Boone and Miss Kathleen Boone. Funeral services will be held at the home of his father-in-law, Tom Underwood, in Lebanon Junction, Ky.
