Misc. Notes
Elzay Warren was a son of Hugh Warren (1784-1873) and Mary Elizabeth Hilbern Warren (1795-1858. Both of these parents are believed to be buried in the Elmore-Warren Cemetery on a hill overlooking Bloyd's Bluff on Brush Creek. This cemetery is only about 1/4 mile from the Young-Pierce-Young Cemetery.
In 1850 Elza was age 33 and lived with his parents. He married in September after the census was taken.
In the 1860 Green County census Elzy and Virginia are family 276 living in the Allendale Post Office area of the county. He is 47 years of age and she is 27. I believe Virginia was a second spouse for Elzy. He is quite older than she and in this census there is a 16 year old girl living with them that would have been born about 4 years before they married. Her name is Mary Warren, born 1844.
The other children in the family are: Ruth A., 7; Mariah E., 6; Mary E., 4; and Robert W., age 2 years.
In the 1870 Green County census, Elzy is head of household 141. His wife has died in 1868 and he is a widower. He is a farmer, age 52. The children are: Mariah E., 16; Ruth A., 18; Mary E., 14; Robert W., 12; Jemima J., 10; Joseph D., 8; Christopher, 4; Ezekiel, age 2 years.
In the 1880 Green County census, Upper Brush Creek, Elzy Warren, Dr., age 62, a farmer, is living with his children: Mary, 23; Robt. W., 20; Mima Jane, 19; Joseph D., 16; Christopher, 14; Ezekiel, 12 years of age.
