Cecilia Marie Boone Johnson, 93, of New Haven, died suddenly Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, after a brief illness at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She slipped away gently and quietly into God's arms surrounded by her children and grandchildren.She was born Christmas Day, 1919 in Bear Hollow to Josephine and Will Boone. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Errol P. Johnson II. She was a life long member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven. She was "Mom" to six children, "Grandmother" to 20, "Great-grandmother" to 23, and "second Mom" to Diane Cecil and numerous others. She was blessed to have special neighbors, Geralyn and Vern Ellis. She was owner and official matriarch of the Sherwood Inn.She was preceded in death by sisters Margie Johnson, Edna Marie Newcomb, Sr. Aloise Boone, OSU, Sr. Mary Regina Boone OSU, and brothers, Joseph William Boone, Joseph Fredrick Boone and Joseph Aloysious Boone; and a grandson, Sean Michael Conkling.Survivors include her children, Mark (Karen), Mike, (Linda), Kenny (Elizabeth), Betty Errol (Pat) Dennis (Becky) and Mary Ann (Rick), sisters, Sr. Joseph Angela Boone, OSU, Mary Jean Hagan, Teresa Marie Thompson, Catherine Keene and Josephine Dworza; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at St. Catherine Church with the Rev. Troy Overton and the Rev. Ken Fortner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, and 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, until the time of the service at William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven. A prayer service lead by the Rev. Mark Keene, nephew, will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov.8.Donations may be made to St. Catherine Academy, 413 N. First Street, New Haven, Ky. 40051.William Rust Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Hunter's Orange attire is welcome.
