Mrs. Margie B. Johnson, 96, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Windsor Gardens Nursing Home.

Mrs. Johnson was born May 25, 1916 in Athertonville. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Brentwood Antiques. She was a member of the Nelson County Homemakers, the Esther Eames Guild of China Painters and St. Joseph Parish, where she was active in the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh M. Johnson; a grandson, Robert A. Brooks; her parents, William Joseph and Mary Josephine Greenwell Boone; 3 brothers, Fred Boone, Joseph William Boone and Aloysius Boone; and 3 sisters, Sr. Aloise Boone, Edna B. "Eddie" Newcomb and Sr. Mary Regina Boone.

She is survived by 3 daughters: Doris Ann (Robert W.) Brooks of Hartford, Alice (Charles "Buddy") Lee of Bardstown and Nancy (Bill) Samuels of Louisville; 8 grandchildren: Patricia Brooks, Kevin Brooks, Christopher Brooks, Randy Lee, Todd Lee, Mark Samuels, Rob Samuels, and Samantha Samuels; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; 6 sisters: Mary Jean Hagan, Cecilia Johnson and Teresa Thompson, all of New Haven, Catherine Keene of Louisville, Sr. Joseph Angela Boone of Owensboro and Josephine Dworzan of Orange, CA.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 12:00 pm at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in Bardstown Cemetery. Reverend David Carr will be the celebrant. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:00 to 11:30 am at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nelson County Humane Society or Cedar Lake Lodge. Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
