Nancy H. Burba, 95, of Hodgenville, born on April 18, 1930, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025.

A dedicated educator, Nancy spent more than 30 years teaching at Hodgenville Elementary, where she inspired countless students and fostered a love of learning in each of them. Her passion for teaching and her nurturing spirit left a lasting impact on her community. Her warmth, kindness and unwavering dedication to her family and students will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John H. Burba; her parents, Fred and Lottie Skaggs Howell; a grandson, Jake Owen; and several brothers and sisters.

Nancy is survived by her three cherished children, Jane Owen (Harry), Hank Burba (Dana) and Ellen Brooks; four grandchildren, Jim Owen, Ginny Burba Harney, Chip Brooks and Haley Brooks Kinnas; and seven great-grandchildren, who forever will her memory dear in their hearts.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Deacon Jim Cecil officiating. Burial follows alongside her husband in Red Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

JOHN HENRY BURBA HAS FATAL HEART ATTACK
John Henry Burba, owner of John H. Burba Hardware Store in this city died late Sunday afternoon at Hardin Memorial Hosp in Elizabethtown a short while after suffering a heart attack at the Etown Flying Service field near Etown, where he was preparing to take a flying lesson. He was 46 years of age.
He was a member of the Larue County Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Hodgenville Rotary Club and the Official Board of Hodgenville Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nancy Howell Burba; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Jane) Owen, of Elizabethtown, and Miss Ellen Burba at home; one son, John H. "Hank" Burba, III, at home; his mother, Mrs. Wayne (Sally) Ennis of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Richard (June) Mullins. of Cincinnati, Ohio.
His father, Paul R. Burba, died a number of years ago.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hodgenville Chirstian Church, with interment in Red Hill Cemetery here. Brownfield Funeral Home, of this city, was in charge of arrangements.
