Wilmot J. ''Bill'' Kinns, 80, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, died Thursday, August 10, 2000 in the Elizabeth House of Four Seasons Hospice.
Mr. Kinns was born in Troy, New York and was a long time resident of Milledgeville, GA before moving to Hendersonville, NC in May, 2000.

A decorated veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, he retired from the United States Army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1965. In 1985, he retired from Georgia College and State University.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggie, in 1988; his daughter, Lucinda K. Anderson, in 1990, and by his second wife, Hilda, in 1999.

Survivors include his daughter, Billie Jean Slovacek and her husband, Anthony, of Hendersonville, NC, six granddaughters, Stephanie Johnson and Amy Slovacek of Columbia, SC; Jennifer Lintz of Montclair, VA; Sara Greene of Shelby, NC; Lara Ictech of Metairie, LA and Mia Yarrusso, of Montreal, Quebec; one grandson, Johnny Anderson of Dublin, GA; and nine great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Milly T. Day and Hill Thompson of Milledgeville, GA and Tommy Thompson of Savannah, GA; and five step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2000 at 12:00 noon in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Milledgeville, GA
