The Kentucky Standard, Thursday, 1/13/1938. JOSEPH F. BOONE, NEW HAVEN, DIES - RITES FOR RETIRED FARMER, EXTENSIVE LAND OWNER, HELD WEDNESDAY - Joseph F. Boone, 76, retired farmer and large land owner, died Monday night at 9 o'clock at his home at New Haven. He had been confined to his home for about six months and had been seriously ill for some time. The son of the late Charles and Priscilla Boone, Mr. Boone was twice married. His first wife, who was Miss Elizabeth Hagan, died several years ago. He leaves one daughter and son by this marriage, Mrs. Robert L. Sims and William J. Boone, of New Haven. His second wife, Mrs. Sallie Mattingly Boone, and five children by this marriage survive. They are: Mrs. Ernest Head, New Haven; Miss Elizabeth Boone, Lebanon; Frank E. Boone, Louisville; Walter Boone, Campbellsville, and Bernard Boone, New Haven. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Bettie Hagan, Louisville, and Mrs. Mary Jane Bowling, New Haven; 41 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. (FORMER GRAND KNIGHT) He was a former Grand Knight of the New Haven Council, Knights of Columbus, and a fourth degree member of the organization. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Catherine's Church, New Haven, with Solemn High Requiem Mass. Rev. James H. Willett, pastor of the church, was the celebrant of the Mass; Rev. C. P. Bowling, Stanley, was deacon, and Rev. James P. McGee, Nazareth, sub-deacon. Rev. Paul Greenwell, Reed, was master of ceremonies. Very Rev. J. A. Hogarty, Lebanon, was seated in the sanctuary. Other members of the clergy present at the funeral were Rev. Joseph D. Gettelfinger and Rev. J. A. O'Brien, Lebanon; Rev. A. L. O'Shea, New Hope; Rev. Engelbert Schmitt, Bardstown; Rev. Thomas Hayden, Louisville; and Rev. Joseph Saffer, Mayfield. Pallbearers were Dr. E. D. Mudd, Dr. J. I. Greenwell, Frank Hagan, A. E. Kirkpatrick, J. Walker Bowling and Martin A. Sims.
