Lived on a farm between Maud and Bloomfield. Later moved to Louisville, KY.
Lewis Ogden Stiles wrote, “He was a man of kindly disposition and winning characteristics, possessed of a deep affection for his kinfolk, and was never too busy to fraternize with acquaintances or for an effort to establish blood relationship.”
Lewis K. Stiles, 80, Is Claimed By Death
Lewis K. Stiles, 80 years old, 1157 South First Street, a retired salesman, died at 2:40 o'clock Monday morning at the Jewish Hospital, following an illness of seven weeks. For five years prior to 1910, Mr. Stiles took an active part in the management of The Kentucky Standard, a weekly publication at Bardstown, of which he was part owner.
He was a native of Bardstown and before his retirement several years ago was & salesman for the Drabelle & Yager Coal Co., 207 East Lee Street. Mr. Stiles was a son of Ogden Willet Stiles, Nelson County farmer. He was educated in schools of the county and at Millersburg, KY.
At the time of is coming to Louisville thirty years ago, Mr. Stiles sold his interest in The Standard and accepted a position with the coal concern. Mr. Stiles was a member of the Virginia Avenue Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kate Huston Stiles: two sons, William Davis Stiles, Los Angeles, and Samuel P. Stiles: a daughter, Mrs. J. C. Palmer; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the residence. Burial be in Resthaven Cemetery.
