Marguerite Rapier "Margot" Jonsson, Sarasota, formerly of Hingham, Mass., and Chatham, N.J., died Jan. 25, 2008.
Survivors include her children, Peter of Lawrenceville, Ga., Marguerite Cheney of Peterborough, N.H., Stephen of Bradenton, and Anita Dittoe of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a sister, Jacqueline Rapier of Ashland, Ore.
Margot died peacefully in her home. She retired to Sarasota in 1979 with her late husband, Gustaf Jonsson, formerly of Bethlehem Steel Corporation. 
Her family includes eleven grandchildren, Gregory Read of Hingham, Mass., Eric Read of Peterborough, N.H., Emily Daniels of Hancock, N.H., Matthew Read of Wellesley, Mass., Andrew Dittoe of Pittsburgh, Pa., Alex Jonsson of Atlanta, Geoffrey Jonsson of Orlando, Fla., Holly Dittoe of Aldie, Va., Thomas Dittoe of Radford, Va., Lisa Jonsson of Bradenton, and Jessica Jonsson of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and six great-grandchildren Nathaniel and Caitlin Read, Jake and Hannah Daniels, Emma Rashid, and Jack Dittoe.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Margot was an avid tennis player at the Country Club of Sarasota and a very competitive bridge player. For many years, she served as a volunteer at Gulf Gate Library. She had a lifetime enjoyment and mastery of many hobbies, including sewing, knitting, decoupage, crewel embroidery, and needlepoint. She was a graduate of both the Beard School of Montclair, N.J., and Katherine Gibbs School of New York City.
She was born in Orange, N.J., one of five daughters of Stephen and Jeanne Rapier. She spoke fluent French, having lived in France as a child, as her father was a successful international electrical import-export businessman. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Audrey Jonsson of Sarasota, and a brother-in-law, Walter Spain of Sun City, Fla.
