Jeannette ran Stephen’s company when he was away. She was an artist and a concert pianist. She travelled extensively, was fluent in several languages, and was an authority on archaeology and Royal Families of Europe.

SPAIN, Walter William age 99, passed away peacefully on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015 at Lifepath Hospice House in Sun City Center. Born on April 11, 1916 in Orange, NJ, he resided in South Orange, NJ for many years before retiring from the Prudential Insurance Company after 45 years as a research consultant. He moved to Sun City Center, in 1982 with his wife, Jeannette Rapier Spain, who predeceased him after 63 years of marriage. Also, preceded in death by his parents, Walter T. and Claire A. Spain, and siblings William R. "Billy" Spain and Richard F. Spain, Claire M. Spain.

He was a founding member and trustee for the new South Orange NJ Public Library dedicated in 1969, president of the South Orange NJ - Citizen's for Responsive Government action committee and active in the Republican Club. In Sun City Center, he was a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club, the Sun City Center Men's Club and he presided over the Kiwanis blood pressure clinic for many years. He also loved to tinker in his garage with his tools. He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie R. and son-in-law, Eugene Coppola of New Jersey, Jacqueline C Gardiner of Florida, and Victoria J. Spain of Massachusetts; grandchildren, Michael and Victoria Coppola of New Jersey, plus nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Comfort Keepers and their caregivers for their help during the past six years. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Lifepath Hospice. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Orange, NJ. Arrangements entrusted to the
